The substance, otherwise known as laughing gas, is now a Class C controlled drug
The illegitimate use of nitrous oxide, otherwise known as laughing gas, is now illegal across the UK.
Crime and Policing Minister, Chris Philp, said: “Today we are sending a clear signal to people, especially young people, that not only is abuse of nitrous oxide dangerous to their health, but it is also illegal and those caught possessing it will face consequences. In such cases, a licence will not be required for the substance, however users will need to demonstrate that they are possessing the substance for lawful reasons. CEO of Neighbourhood Watch, John Hayward-Cripps, said: “At Neighbourhood Watch, we support the Government’s ban on nitrous oxide.
