New data shows Wirral Council's made over half a million in fines
New data shows which parts of the Wirral you are most likely to get a parking fine as thousands of fines are given out.
The data, which came from a Freedom of Information request, shows the council generated £506,347 from fines in 2023, up from £347,930 in 2022 and £67,665 generated so far in 2024. However between 2022 and 2024, 5,543 fines are still outstanding while 2,972 have been successfully appealed.ALSO IN THE ECHO: Dad found himself in court after chasing off home invader
Wirral Council is currently developing its strategy to manage parking across the borough. Councillors voted to move forward the policy forward in December 2023 which will look to generate income for the council and bring in a number of new changes. The local authority declined to comment when asked for an update on progress.
