A number of Glasgow police officers have been recognised for their bravery and dedication to communities through an award ceremony, including an off-duty cop who stopped an attack.

Police probationer Christopher Martin was also recognised for tackling an armed man at a busy hospital. The PC stopped the suspect and followed him out of the building. Also awarded were four officers who have been credited with saving the lives of two men following a stabbing in the city. PCs Gary Hutchison, Andrew Glen, Paul Lambert and Keir Samson were dispatched the scene of a robbery in a supermarket where one person had been stabbed and thereafter a similar incident in a nearby home.
