'I can only apologise.”
The Twitter account of Daventry MP Chris Heaton-Harris was hacked and released a number of racist and homophobic statements earlier this week. It came just days after the Twitter profile of another Cabinet minister was taken over by hackers.
One tweet announced that members of the LGBT community would now be given prison sentences. The Northern Ireland Secretary later deleted the tweets and wrote on his account: “My Twitter account was hacked this morning, messages not posted by me have been deleted.”However, this tweet disappeared shortly afterwards and his account posted a string of further tweets, suggesting security had once again been lost.
