If you want to claim PIP you will now need to check your postcode before making an appllication
People living in 160 parts of the Uk have been switched to a new system for making Personal Independence Payment claims. PIP is the Government benefit from the Department for Work and Pensions to help with extra living costs for people who have a long-term physical or mental health condition or disability.
If you are planning to apply for PIP, you will need to check your postcode against the list to check whether you need to use the new system - or the old one. Tom Pursglove, minister for disabled people, health and work, said: "Limiting the number of claimants during the testing phase means we can test the functionality and stability of the new service, learning and making improvements before we gradually and carefully increase the number of people who can use it."More than 3,000 claimants have already applied online. Those who can’t apply for PIP online can start their claim by phone or by post.
