Police are appealing for information following the low speed crash in Saltford on Monday.
Emergency services were called to Pepys Close in Saltford, near Bath, shortly before 18:40 GMT on Monday.
The woman, who was in her 70s, was driving a BMW at low speed when the crash happened, police said. She was pronounced dead at the scene. Avon and Somerset Police said a passenger was not injured. Officers are carrying out enquiries to determine what happened. The road was closed while emergency services attended the incident but reopened at about 12:40 GMT on Tuesday.
Anyone who has doorbell or CCTV footage that may provide further information about what happened are asked to get in touch with police.
