Sunday marked five years since an ex-boyfriend murdered University of Utah student-athlete Lauren McCluskey.
Sinclair is teaming up with Magen David Adom to help with their efforts providing humanitarian relief & emergency medical services in IsraelJill McCluskey reflects on the progress made since her daughter Jill was murdered on the University of Utah campus. Lauren had reached out to the police for help nearly two dozen times before she was shot to death on campus.
"Your child is no longer with you," Jill said. "You kind of think what could have been, you know, that she was just starting out. As time goes on, you won't think about her every single minute, which is what it's like right after you lost someone.
"Anyone who makes Lauren’s Promise will listen to and believe those individuals who are being threatened or experiencing sexual assault, dating violence or stalking and will help connect victims to support resources," according to the foundation's site. "By making Lauren’s Promise, individuals are helping to change campus cultures that respond poorly to dating violence and stalking throughout the nation.
"I think if we can say no, this is not your fault that you're in this situation, someone is doing this to you, and it's okay to talk about it. Let's do something about it," Jill said.
