The University of Utah community came together Saturday to remember one of their own – and further the cause prompted by her death.Fast forward to today, Lauren’s influence and impact are still alive at the U of U.
Saturday morning’s race was sponsored by the Lauren McCluskey Foundation and the University of Utah to raise awareness of dating and domestic violence. They also noted that Lauren and her friends told university officials and police about the abusive behavior and their fears that it could escalate into greater violence, but that university officials and police ignored, dismissed, and avoided her requests for help. (Lauren's killerand donating an additional $3 million to the Lauren McCluskey Foundation.
“Nothing is perfect,” said Iwamoto. “They’re still fighting for things and making sure that it’s safe for all students.”
