Former First Sea Lord suggests that the UK should deploy an aircraft carrier group to the Middle East to defend its assets in the region following Iran's recent attack on Israel.

The Israeli military said its defence forces and other countries had intercepted more than 300 cruise missiles and drones, mostly outside Israeli airspace. He added that the UK would be unlikely to take part in any first attack by Israel on Iran but could be “dragged into a war we don’t want to fight”., which killed leading military figures from Tehran on 1 April.“Last night’s attack was more about the Iranians showing all its people, allies and it’s acolytes that when Israel destroys one of its embassies that there is a response,” said Lord West. “This was about appeasing Iran’s own audience.
“The danger is that Iran often misjudges the reaction and that can lead to greater consequences than it hoped for.
