U.K. schools will close on Friday until further notice, Education Secretary Gavin Williamson announced Wednesday

Speaking at a simultaneous press conference, Prime Minister Boris Johnson said the scientific advice has evolved."We think now that we must apply further downward pressure on that upward curve [of infection rates] by closing the schools," he said. Asked today whether a shutdown in the capital was imminent, Johnson said the government was keeping its response to the outbreak"under review" and is"going to do the right measures at the right time."
