The freshmen can play with the school they are zoned to attend
SAN ANTONIO — The UIL state executive committee determined 11 football players who transferred to San Marcos High School moved for athletic purposes, a violation.
San Marcos has open enrollment, meaning parents can send their children to any school regardless of where they live. However, that doesn’t apply for UIL eligibility. They can only compete for schools they are zoned to attend. All 11 athletes are eligible to participate in varsity athletics for the school they are zoned to attend.
