Gonzaga, last year's No. 1 overall seed, and Michigan State will play on aircraft carrier in San Diego on the afternoon on November 11, which is Veterans Day
. Now we know when Gonzaga and Michigan State will tip off Nov. 11 on the flight deck of the USS Abraham Lincoln, which is stationed at Naval Air Station North Island.
The 2022 Armed Forces Classic will begin at 3:30 p.m. PT, according to an announcement from ESPN Events. Dan Shulman and Jay Bilas will call the game on ESPN. Gonzaga was seeded No. 1 overall in last year’s NCAA Tournament but lost in the Sweet 16 . Last week the Bulldogs were No. 2 inThe Veterans Day game, beginning 80 minutes before sunset, will coincide with the 33rd anniversary of when the Abraham Lincoln was commissioned. The aircraft carrier has been based in San Diego the past three years, most recently returning to port in August.
It is the first game on an active aircraft carrier in San Diego since Veterans Day of 2011 when Michigan State defeated North Carolina aboard the USS Carl Vinson. SDSU and Syracuse played on the deck of the USS Midway Museum in 2012. There will be no tickets for the general public, with seating limited to invited military members and some team allotments.
