CEO Dara Khosrowshahi told the “Today” show’s Savannah Guthrie on Friday morning that “we certainly do” think the worst of the pandemic is now in the company’s rear view mirror.

Competitor Lyft has also reported business sinking 75% by mid-April, and laid off 17% of its workforce and furloughed another 288 employees. “Getting out of the house, starting to move again is gonna feel funny, and it may feel unsafe, and we are doing our part to make it as safe as possible,” he said, adding that Uber has redesigned its ride-hailing experience “from top to bottom with safety in mind.”

Lyft has also announced that its drivers and riders will be required to “self-certify” that they will wear face masks throughout the ride, and that they are free of any COVID-19 symptoms.
