Man United manager Erik ten Hag knows he must find goals from other areas of the pitch this season, and two out-of-favour players could provide them
A huge £72million outlay was approved over the summer to bring in Rasmus Hojlund from Serie A side Atalanta as United boss Erik ten Hag landed the out-and-out centre-forward he desperately lacked last season. However, at just 20 years old, Hojlund is raw and a work in progress.
It's not pretty viewing for United fans and it's obvious that players that aren't attackers are going to have to pitch in with some goals at some point. A point Ten Hag made around the same time last year. There's certainly one midfielder who has proved he can come up with the goods already this season. With United on the ropes and staring another disappointing Old Trafford defeat in the face against Brentford, up stepped Scott McTominay.
Unlucky to have a brilliant free-kick ruled out for his country by yet another bizarre VAR call on Thursday night, McTominay has shown he deserves more chances than he is currently getting from Ten Hag. He's not United's only goalscoring midfielder so far this campaign, however, with Hannibal Mejbri bagging an impressive effort against Brighton.
