The decades-spanning Hong Kong crime epic was supposed to come back way back… in 2018. Better late than never, right?
, the highly-anticipated Hong Kong crime thriller that marks the first time pairing of Aaron Kwok and Tony Leung Chiu-Wai, finally sees the light of day after a five-year wait. — is an epic saga about the rise of two rogue cops with strong triad connections in the 1960s and their fall from grace in the 1970s when their illicit activities are put to the end by the Hong Kong Independent Commission Against Corruption.
The movie, which reportedly cost about US$38 million , also stars Patrick Tam, Michael Chow, Du Juan, and Michael Hui.The film’s release has been a long time coming. It was supposed to be out in end-2018 but was delayed by China’s National Radio and Television Administration, which had issues with the film’s depiction of police corruption and organised crime gangs.
Cue to April 2021. It was slated to make its world premiere at the 45th Hong Kong International Film Festival, but the screening was pulled by the producers over “technical” reasons.
