There is heavy traffic as the road outside Watford Junction has been dug up.
Affinity Water roadworks are carrying out “essential” work to maintain its infrastructure in Station Road, which has involved unearthing pipes directly below the carriageway.
Starting today and lasting until May 3, the bus lane and the adjacent lane are shut heading from the station to St Albans Road.The central lane now features a deep hole, providing workers access to the pipes, and a section of the bus lane surrounded by barriers has been filled with the rubble. Cars and buses are being forced into the sole remaining lane. One passer-by described the situation as “traffic chaos” as rush hour began.Google Maps is displaying significant delays for drivers in Watford town centre as of 5.40pm. This is common at peak times, but it is particularly heavy in Station Road today.
At the same time, an unplanned road closure has shut St Johns Road 24/7 at its junction with Clarendon Road .
