Toni Morrison was less than impressed with Oprah's methodology

While most would be flattered by the media mogul's dedication, Morrison who died in August of last year, was less than impressed. Greenfield-Sanders continued, “The best part is, when Toni answered the phone, her initial reaction was not excitement. Toni asked [Oprah], ‘How did you get my number?’ ” The pair were able to get past this initial froideur, however, and Winfrey went on to star in the highly-acclaimed 1998 adaptation of Morrison's 1987 novelAlthough the experience probably made the author think twice before sharing her contact information with any public safety department ever again.
