Threave Rovers caretaker boss Paul McGinley says Saturday’s opponents were the best team his side has faced since he took charge.And McGinley admitted: “It was a pleasing performance because since I’ve been in that’s definitely the best team we’ve played. They’ve a lot of quality all over the pitch.
“They were missing out the middle of the park a lot, very direct, and with the wind behind them it caused us a lot of problems in the first half so we had to dig deep. “In the second half we came out the traps well, went 3-1 up and were looking to control the game from that. It was unfortunate we lost a goal which gave them a bit of impetus and brought them back into it.
“There is a good spine of the team with Graham Wright, Hugh Cameron, Ritchie Maxwell and Danny Dunglinson – and you’ve got Lewis Sloan and Dan Orsi as well. It’s a good base to work off.”The veteran put Threave in front after the break with a spectacular strike and Dylan Cairnie was on hand to double the lead after Harry Officer’s shot was saved.McGinley said: “They were good at what they did, it was direct play, and speaking to their manager after the game, that was their game plan.
