Lancashire's now lost St Annes on sea open air baths was once a popular tourist attraction
An open air swimming pool used to be drained after each season by its owners to discover its lost treasures.
During the 1930s, it was reported the pool would be drained at the end of each holiday season, revealing a host of treasures lost by those who used it. Under the headline 'St. Annes swimming pool gives up its treasures', a story in The Ramsbottom Observer in October 1932 reported on the pool being drained at the end of the holiday season.

In the 1950s, the opulent open air pool was also regularly used for bathing beauty competitions. Sadly, the fate of St Annes open air pool followed many other of Britain's lidos when it closed in 1989 and was later demolished. The Island Cinema is now located where the open air pool once was, with a new indoor pool situated nearby.
