Downpours are forecast over our region
Much of the UK is bracing itself for heavy rain and strong winds brought by Storm Ciaran - and Greater Manchester is set to be hit by the downpours.
Showers look set to be persistent and heavy until Friday morning when they should then ease off. A yellow weather warning for rain comes into force at 6pm today and lasts until 11.59pm tomorrow. People have been warned to expect delays on the roads and on public transport. On Thursday, a number of amber weather warnings for wind have been issued in the South.
