Stirling's politicians have been quick to respond to the major political news after Scotland's First Minister, Humza Yousaf, today announced he is to step down from the role.

Local politicians from across the political spectrum have been responding to First Minister Humza Yousaf's shock resignation.

But the move led to fury from the Greens, with the party then backing a no confidence motion led by the Scottish Conservatives in Mr Yousaf's leadership. "His dedication to do the right and principled thing by the people of Scotland has always been his focus and I thank him for his service and wish him well for his future.“I look forward to working with a successor for First Minister that will lead us towards a fairer, greener and more sustainable Scotland.”

Mr Stewart said: "We in the Scottish Conservatives have delivered on our promise to be a strong opposition to the SNP.
