St Johnstone have sacked manager Steven MacLean following their 4-0 loss to St Mirren, leaving them at the bottom of the Scottish Premiership with no wins. MacLean won three games as interim manager before being given a three-year deal, but the team has struggled this season, scoring only one goal in nearly two months.

St Johnstone have "parted company" with manager Steven MacLean after St Mirren inflicted their latest dismal result of the season on Saturday.

The Perth club were hammered 4-0 in Paisley to leave them five points adrift at the foot of the Scottish Premiership with no wins."Some of them should be ashamed of their performances," said MacLean after the latest loss. "St Johnstone Football Club can announce that it has parted company with Steven MacLean and Liam Craig," said a club statement.After taking interim charge in April, MacLean won three crucial post-split games to convince the St Johnstone board to hand him a three-year deal and his first shot at management.

Seventeen players departed in the summer as part of a rebuild, but St Johnstone remain the only team across Scotland's top two divisions who have failed to record a victory this season.
