Four points from nine games. No wins. Three goals scored. The numbers from Steven MacLean's St Johnstone side this season are stark and frightening in equal measure.
"It's my responsibility, my team and they weren't good enough all over the pitch. We need to get better in all areas."Powerful words from a manager who has seemingly lost patience with a side that has scored fewer goals than any other SPFL side. "It became abundantly clear that he was the man I wanted to lead us on a permanent basis," then-chairman Steve Brown said after MacLean's appointment on a permanent basis.
"He has spoken about mini pre-seasons, fitness, about squad numbers, confidence and getting to work with the group. "I think he's come out and had a right go there - and that'll get through, there's no doubt about that," added former Aberdeen captain and manager Willie Miller.
