The United co-owner feels the side need more guile and craft Sir Jim Ratcliffe believes Manchester United are missing a creative, passing midfielder of the Paul Scholes ilk, while he also feels central defence is an area of the pitch that needs addressing. The Ineos founder’s £1.3billion minority takeover of the club has seen him, along with Sir Dave Brailsford, assume control of football operations at Old Trafford.
Ratcliffe wants to sign a player like Scholes or Iniesta ‘They are not Roy Keane but they have Casemiro and Kobbie Mainoo, they are more defensive. They don’t have a Scholes, an Iniesta.’ In addition to a new, more creative central midfielder, Ratcliffe also feels United are missing something at the back. Ratcliffe continued: ‘Jaap Stam was a fabulous footballer and United missed him for years.
