Delay of French Open to September keeps tennis world isolated and in the dark about future tournaments due to lack of updates
In this June 9, 2019 file photo, Spain's Rafael Nadal can be seen in action during his final match against Austria's Dominic Thiem Tennis at the French Open in Paris, France.
While players raged at the lack of communication prior to the decision, the International Tennis Federation, the men’s ATP Tour and the women’s WTA Tour have refrained from commenting directly on the switch. Chengdu Open organisers echoed the sentiments of many when they said they were disappointed by the lack of communication from the FFT.
Tennis Australia, the owners of the opening Grand Slam of the year at Melbourne Park, and US Open organisers United States Tennis Association are stakeholders in the Laver Cup, which is part of the ATP Tour calendar.
