The 35-year-old is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court tomorrow.
The 52-year-old was found seriously injured in a common close in a block of flats in the town's Renfield Street at 3am on Monday, October 30. Emergency services were rushed to the address, however, Alastair, from Renfrew, died at the scene.
Officers say they are treating the incident as murder. A 35-year-old man has been arrested and charged in connection with his death. He is due to appear at Paisley Sheriff Court on Wednesday, November 8. A 47-year-old man was previously arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He appeared at the same court on Friday, where he was charged with murder and attempted robbery. The suspect, named James Cook, who has no fixed address, made no plea.
