Undefeated Bearsden boxer Collins takes on reigning European champion Francesco Grandelli in London on May 11.

Scottish boxing star Nathaniel Collins has promised "fireworks" when he goes to war in a fight for the European featherweight title next month.

On Saturday, May 11, the undefeated Scot - who captured the British featherweight title with a points win over Englishman Zak Miller last November that also saw him defend his Commonwealth crown - will face Italy's Francesco Grandelli on the undercard of the middleweight clash between Denzel Bentley and Dignum at York Hall in London.

The Bearsden star has accumulated 14 straight wins since turning pro in 2018, seven of which have came inside the distance. The next man to threaten his flawless record, Grandelli, got his hands on the European after stopping undefeated Belgian fighter Stefan Voda in just two rounds back in December. The 29-year-old's record stands at 18 wins, two draws and two losses from his 22 bouts, and the encounter with Collins will be the first time he has fought outside of his homeland.

But Collins, who fought at the OVO Hydro in 2022, knows he is in for a tough night and is delighted to get an opportunity to propel himself up the featherweight world rankings. In a post on X , he wrote: "Back again in the famous York Hall challenging for the EBU silver title against a tough italian! Great step up that I have been asking for at this time in my career! Expect fireworks".

Should the 27-year-old emerge victorious against Grandelli, he could edge himself towards a huge domestic fight in the 126 pound division, with the likes of Nick Ball, Isaac Dogboe and James Dickens all staking a claim to be seen as the best featherweight in the UK.
