.nbcsnl adds its first openly nonbinary person to cast for 48th season
Actor Molly Kearney, a comedian who played Fern Dannely in the Amazon Prime show A League of Their Own, will join the comedy show for its 48th season, following a mass exodus of veteran cast members. As a nonbinary person, Kearney rejects the gender"binary" and does not identify as a man or a woman, opting for gender-neutral pronouns instead."Little meatbrick would freak OUT at this news! Kearney is joining SNL after the high-profile departures of Kate McKinnon, Pete Davidson, Aidy Bryant, and Kyle Mooney. SNL is adding Kearney to its roster alongside Devon Walker, Marcello Hernandez, and Michael Longfellow, all of whom have cut their teeth in the comedy world. "MEATBRICK MOVED TO NEW YORK !!!!" Kearney wrote in an Instagram post showcasing a headshot for her SNL debut.
Based in Los Angeles, Kearney has a lengthy track record of comedy work in Los Angeles, Chicago, Milwaukee, and other cities. The actor also helped produce a stand-up show named The Big One. Kearney gave an opening act for SNL's Sarah Sherman in June, who joined the show in October 2021, setting the stage for a reunion for the pair.
