A restaurant has warned the public about scammers following news that some customers have been asked for their card details to claim the restaurant’s competition prize

Staff from The Firepit in Rawtenstall say customers have phoned them to inform workers that fraudsters have been in touch with them asking for their card details to ‘secure’ the restaurant’s bottomless brunch prize they had won. A post on the New Hall Hey Road-based steak house restaurant Facebook page reads: “We have received calls to the restaurants stating scammers are contacting our customers asking for card details as they have won our Bottomless Brunch Competition.“We can not stress enough we will NOT be asking for any card details, this is a competition where you win FREE bottomless brunch and as we’ve said the winners will be announced at the end of January.
The winner will be announced on January 31. You should report all types of scams to Action Fraud, the UK’s national reporting centre for fraud on 0300 123 2040.
