Both Fowler and Schauffele made history Thursday in the first round at the 2023 U.S. Open at Los Angeles Country Club, as they each shot 8-under 62 to set the record for the lowest round in the tournament’s history. The 62s tie the record for the lowest round at any major; Branden Grace shot 62 at the 2017 British Open.
