The U.K. government’s Charity Commission has found that the Prince Andrew Charitable Trust violated the law by improperly paying a trustee
, the commission said that the charity paid £355,297 to a former trustee who was an employee of Andrew’s household. The payments happened over the course of about five years, and Andrew has since repaid the money to the charity, according to theThe commission added that the investigation began after Andrew’s BBC interview.
This is not the first time that subsidiaries of Andrew’s trust have gotten criticism for unusual practices. In November, his initiative Pitch@Palace, which was a–style start-up incubator meant to connect founders with investors, came under fire for a strange contractual clause which gave Pitch@Palace the option to claim 2% equity in companies supported by the initiative.
