The incident occurred in Front Street in Arnold in August last year
A serving Nottinghamshire Police officer who denies assaulting a 16-year-old girl in the back of a police car while she was being detained has appeared in court. PC Kevin Markowski appeared at Lincoln Crown Court on Monday, November 6 via a video-link for a pre-trial hearing.
At a previous hearing in April the officer pleaded not guilty to assault by beating and non-fatal intentional strangulation of a child. The charges relate to an incident in Front Street, in Arnold in Nottinghamshire, on 24 August 2022. Judge Catarina Sjolin Knight told PC Markowski his case will next be listed for a further pre-trial hearing on 28 February next year. He will also be allowed to attend that hearing via video-link.
The officer will go on trial at the same court on 10 June 2024. His trial is expected to last five days. PC Markowski, 46, of Calverton, Nottinghamshire, was granted unconditional bail by Judge Sjolin Knight.
