Public encouraged to have their say
A new plan to ‘future proof’ Urmston town centre for the next 15 years is being hatched by Trafford’s town hall bosses. This follows the first in a series of public consultations which took place at Urmston Library on March 21 where 200 people attended.
The next event takes place tomorrow online and will run until Sunday June 2 in order to give people the chance to say what they ‘like and don’t like’ about Urmston and how it could be improved. Consultation boards from the in-person event are available to view on the online consultation webpage, as well as further information and an online survey. A link to the Urmston Plan online consultation is at Urmston Plan - Trafford Council's Citizen Space - Citizen Space.
The consultation is an opportunity for the council and their appointed consultants to gather ideas from the local community, which can then inform the new Urmston Plan. Trafford council has appointed AEW Architects to lead on the preparation of Urmston Plan and they will be supported by Avison Young, Vectos and CW Studios.
“Trafford council is committed to improving all of our town centres including Urmston. The new Urmston Plan will set a framework for the town centre to meet the needs of residents and businesses now and in the future and will form the basis to be able to apply for funding when it becomes available. Please do take this opportunity to have your say.”
The Urmston Plan is being developed with funding from the UK Government through the UK Shared Prosperity Fund. The UK Shared Prosperity Fund is a central pillar of the UK government’s Levelling Up agenda and provides £2.6bn of funding for local investment by March 2025.
