National Savings and Investments has launched a three-year savings account promised in last month’s Budget, paying a rate of 4.15 per cent.The account is a three-year bond. The interest rate is fixed at 4.15 per cent, so it won’t go down or up during that period.
There is also a Growth option, which means the interest is compounded and added to the bond each year, giving you a higher return.It pays a guaranteed rate of 4.15 per cent, but 27 other providers offer three-year bonds with higher interest rates. Laura Suter, director of personal finance at AJ Bell, said: “NS&I said it wanted to price these bonds so they’d stick around, rather than selling like hot cakes, and this middle-market offering may just do that.
