This is the 11th misconduct hearing held by the force in private this year
A Nottinghamshire police officer is due to face a gross misconduct accelerated hearing. The hearing will be chaired by Nottinghamshire Police Chief Constable Kate Meynell on Friday, October 10, at the Force's headquarters in Arnold.
The force has announced the hearing will take place in private after being granted permission under one of the exceptions allowed in the police regulations. According to Nottinghamshire Police, the officer, who has not been named, will answer allegations relating to honesty and integrity, duties and responsibilities, confidentiality, and discreditable conduct.
In relation to the Force's decision to hold the hearing behind closed doors, Nottinghamshire Live was told this was due to an expection as part of regulation 53 of the Police regulations 2020.According to Nottinghamshire Police, the purpose of misconduct hearings is to present the facts of the case and allow officers to explain their conduct and the circumstances around it.
Members of the public and the press are allowed to attend such hearings. According to Home Office guidance, misconduct hearings should be held in public but may be held in private after national security, the interference with the prevention or detection of crime, and the welfare of the parties involved were taken into account.
A total of 11 misconduct hearings have taken place so far this year, with tomorrow's being the 12th, out of which only one was held in public.
