Luchie Cawood, a successful businesswoman and former pilot, has opened a youth clinic in Hampshire to address the growing mental health concerns among children and teens. The clinic offers therapy programs and residential stays for children aged 14-17, providing a supportive environment for those in need of intensive intervention. Luchie hopes to raise awareness about the UK's mental health crisis among young people.
Luchie Cawood, 54, is a loving mother of four, one of British Airways first female pilots and a successful businesswoman but her world crumbled when she discovered that her youngest son had come close to trying to take his own life.
The clinic cares for an extensive range of mental health conditions and associated behaviours with dedicated therapy programmes aimed at children who need a more intensive intervention than regular therapy sessions can offer. "My son struggled really badly a few years ago. Years prior, when he was just a small child, we lost my father, my uncle and then my husband. My children all went through a large emotional fracture and my youngest just didn't really settle back as well as he maybe could have.
"My son is 21 now and we're three years on. He's doing a brilliant job. He has just started at university studying to be a mental health nurse - he has come so far, he's such an inspiration for us all.
