Nottingham is home to a number of reportedly haunted buildings, from the National Justice Museum to the City of Caves - but there are also some ghostly goings-on in some pubs and hotels
Despite living in an increasingly atheistic society, around one in three people in the UK are said to believe in ghosts. Many people have grown up having no belief in the afterlife only to have seen something with their own eyes that they cannot explain.
National Justice Museum The National Justice Museum is reputed to be one of the most haunted locations in the country. Its grim history has led many to believe that tormented souls still haunt the museum.It was the only place in Britain where you could be tried, convicted, sentenced, and some executions were carried out at the entrance of the building. Over the years, numerous visitors have reported hearing screams, knocks, and slamming doors.
Businessman Anwar Rashid purchased the hall in 2006 but relinquished it after eight months due to paranormal activities. Mr Rashid and his wife reported hearing knocks on the wall, and bloodspots were discovered on their 18-month-old baby's quilt. Ye Olde Salutation Inn A former landlord, unable to cope with the stress of running the pub, took his own life and is now believed to haunt the inn. The caves beneath the pub are said to be haunted by a four year old child.Trent Bridge The alleged ghost of a suicide victim can be seen peering over the edge of the bridge before disappearing. Some have reported seeing figures jump into the water from the bridge, only to vanish before hitting the water.
