The UK saw temperatures smash records never seen before with the mercury hitting 40.3C in Lincolnshire, in what was the highest figure seen in UK climate history
Meteorologist Jim Dale has warned that the UK could be in for a scorching spring, with temperatures to rival those of last year's heatwave as early as April. The Met Office has also predicted that this year could break temperature records yet again.
He added that what's happening globally is quite alarming, noting that the USA just experienced its warmest winter ever. A spokesperson explained: "I'm afraid it is too far ahead to talk about summer at this stage.", reports the Mirror. Professor Adam Scaife, who knows a lot about weather predictions at the Met Office, mentioned: "It is striking that the temperature record for 2023 has broken the previous record set in 2016 by so much because the main effect of the current El Nino will come in 2024. Consistent with this, the Met Office's 2024 temperature forecast shows this year has strong potential to be another record-breaking year.
