Man United are a club in limbo with the takeover process still rumbling on in the background with no conclusion in sight.
Rio Ferdinand said in mid-June that it might only be a 'matter of hours' before Manchester United were sold by the Glazers. Ferdinand confidently described a takeover from Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad al Thani of Qatar as imminent and claimed that his information from 'a good source' was true, but four months later and the Glazer family remains in total control of the club.
In the era of misinformation, social media has become a dangerous place and fans who are desperate to hear positive news can fall into the trap of believing takeover 'updates' from accounts that have absolutely no merit. November is just around the corner and the 22nd of that month will represent the one-year anniversary since it was announced the Glazers were exploring 'strategic alternatives' for United, which included possibly selling up.
There have been no meaningful updates on the process in months and the feeling that the Glazers don't actually want to sell their cherished asset - Joel and Avram have always been reluctant sellers - has only increased.
