There is great hope for Kobbie Mainoo, highly rated by the manager, though expectations must be tempered for a teenage talent whose development could actually be hampered by a prolonged role in this dysfunctional side.
Mount or Fernandes could fill in on the wing if required, though that would be another sign of defeat for a side that has invested so heavily in finding a long-term solution. That is easier said than done.
