What has been so worrying this season is that many of their key players have underperformed, and there is now an argument for them to be dropped. The most notable is Scott McTominay, who has once again proven his value as a more advanced midfield option both at club and international level. In the past week, he has showcased his striker's instinct with a brilliant brace against Brentford and a stunning free-kick against Spain that was controversially disallowed.
The 31-year-old has struggled for form throughout the season and might need a rest if he is to recapture the brilliance that saw him play such an integral role during his debut campaign.
