Mary Earps has opened up on the increasingly unrealistic expectations placed on WSL players after games
Manchester United goalkeeper Mary Earps has admitted it is becoming "really difficult" to keep up with demand from fans as the profile of the women's game continues to grow.
The issue came under the spotlight again on Sunday, when Earps was accused of not devoting enough time to fans after United's 5-0 rout of Everton at Walton Hall Park. One supporter commented on United's Instagram page: "Thankyou Ella Toone and Nikita Parris for stopping to meet my daughter today.
And the 30-year-old addressed the situation on Thursday in a press conference ahead of the Lionesses' Nation's League clash with Belgium. "The accessibility that people get to us as players is a hot topic of discussion at the moment," she said. "We are obviously so grateful that thousands and thousands of people want to meet us and come and talk to us, but the reality is if that is is the expectation we will always fall short. The emphasis needs to switch now.
