Two officers were injured during the ‘disturbance’ involving a weapon in quiet residential street in Paisley
A man has been arrested by Scottish police after video footage shared on social media appeared to show an officer being chased with a chainsaw.said a “disturbance involving a weapon” took place following a crash involving a car and a police vehicle in Paisley, near Glasgow, on Monday.Video shared online on Monday afternoon appeared to showed a man running down Paisley’s Glasgow Road with a chainsaw, with a police officer seen running away.
In a statement, Police Scotland said: “Around 1pm on Monday, 6 May 2024, a disturbance involving a weapon occurred following a collision involving a car and a stationary police vehicle on Glasgow Road in Paisley.” The force added: “Two officers were injured and were treated by paramedics. A 27-year-old man was arrested in connection with the incident.”
Residents were reassured there is no wider risk to the public after the incident. Officers remained at the scene to make ongoing enquires. The road was closed between Buchlyvie Road and Allanton Avenue on Monday afternoon, with drivers being asked to avoid the area.
