Earlier this morning we reported there were major rush hour delays due to a vehicle fire on the M8 near Glasgow Airport - we can now confirm a 36 year-old has been arrested in connection with the incident.
A man has been arrested in connection with a road traffic offence following a vehicle fire on the M8 near Glasgow Airport at junction 29.
Fire crews rushed to the scene at around 3.05am on November 7, following reports of a damaged vehicle on fire on the M8 westbound near Glasgow Airport at junction 29, Paisley. Officers have now confirmed a 36 year-old man has been arrested in connection with the incident. Two fire appliances were deployed to the area and crews were able to extinguish the fire - however, the incident caused major delays for rush hour drivers this morning as the busy road remains closed following enquiries, with Traffic Scotland warning motorists of diversions.READ MORE: Major delay on Glasgow M8 motorway after road closes near airportA Police Scotland spokesperson said: “Emergency services attended and the fire was extinguished.
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said: "We were alerted at 3.05am on Tuesday, 7 November to reports of a vehicle fire on the M8, near Paisley.
