Liverpool Magistrates' Court heard how David Pursglove was going between 46-49mph when he hit Lexi McDavid
The man who caused the death of a 12-year-old girl who was hit and killed as she stepped off the bus has been named.
Angela Conlan, prosecuting, told the court how Lexi, 12, had travelled on a bus back from Broughton Hall Catholic High School in West Derby. She said the bus pulled in and Lexi got off. Ms Conlan said that CCTV footage showed Lexi run in front of the bus to cross the road., and "as she entered the second lane she was hit by a van being driven by the defendant".
Ms Conlan said: "The defendant was shocked when he was told the speed." She added that Pursglove had been driving as fast as 80mph a short time before the crash. The prosecutor told the court Pursglove, of Moorhey Road, Maghull, had no previous convictions. Addressing Pursglove, District Judge Hatton said: "You entered a guilty plea at the first occasion so you will receive full credit." But he added: "This offence is too serious for this court to pass sentence, so I commit you for sentence at the crown court."
