Dispatch readers disagree on direction the Ohio State men's basketball program is heading.

? If a story should be written about the Bucks, it should do with the fact that coach Chris Holtmann does a very poor job of recruiting quality players, especially big men. Also his in game management is very poor, substituting during a good flow in the game, and relying on players such as Meechie Johnson to give any type of contribution. It is clear that Meechie is in over his head and shoots at the most inopportune times. Also, while he believes in small, you cannot play it in the Big Ten.

As Brown fans, we hope, we pray, we follow, we live and die with the Browns from week to week. No matter the outcome, we never give up hope for our team. We are always wishing for the best, but preparing for the worst, a week-to-week ritual. The true Browns fan knows football is more than just winning. It’s a long-term relationship that bonds the fans to the players. As these players go to battle every week, the fans declare victory every time the battle is won.

But today the heart and soul of the Browns is in question. It affects not just Baker, Landry, Hooper, and Tretter, but the Browns nation as well. The heart and soul that took years to finally put back in place, could be destroyed in one fell swoop. It seems the strategy has changed to win at all costs. The family our fans desperately need will be replaced with football mercenaries. Money does not buy loyalty with this type of player, the loyalty the Browns fans want and need.

The Florida Marlins used this approach in 1997. And though they eventually won the World Series, the fans could never relate to the team. The final victory was empty. When the season ended, all the high-priced players were traded away. It was a temporary fix, that Miami couldn’t afford to keep. Management has done a great job assembling this team, please don’t destroy what took years to assemble. Buy at all costs may sound good, but it only takes one injury to end that dream.

Put your faith in the family of players, not in a few superstars who will come and go like the wind. I believe, like the majority of Brown fans, that the current family of players deserves another chance to prove its worth. No one will blame management if they fall short in this goal, but everyone will blame management if the approach of bringing in high-priced superstars fails. At the end of the day, there can only be one winner. Don’t lose faith. That’s what families are all about.
