Luke Williams admitted that there can be good and bad times for cup games, but Notts County’s full focus is on tasting FA Cup success against Crawley Town. The Magpies are dreaming of another league promotion after making a great start to their League Two campaign, and the breakaway to cup action can be viewed as a distraction in either a positive or negative sense.
On the FA Cup, Williams said: “There are times for all managers and coaches for sure where they would admit that a cup game is something that can be a threat to your squad and is a problem when you’re trying to manage certain players. “A cup game can be a welcome relief for a coach of players in that sense also, so I think it depends on the state of play of the club when the game comes along, but we’re certainly preparing to win and make a really good performance, with the rest hopefully taking care of itself.”
