The event was made possible due to the bollards blocking off a car park not going up
A local councillor has made another appeal to car cruisers in a Nottinghamshire village after more disruption in recent weeks. Mike Adams, county councillor for Carlton East, said car cruisers have gathered in the car park of an industrial estate in Colwick after a Halloween event that took place on October 29 was advertised on TikTok.
The event was made possible due to the bollards blocking off the car park not going up that night. This happened due to a rota change at the security firm and once alerted, the business owner asked for the bollards to be raised. The order was secured as a result of collective work involving local police and Gedling Borough Council. Since the launch of the dedicated operation, positive results achieved by just one of the police teams involved included 69 drivers being stopped, spoken with, and given warning letters and 39 vehicles being issued with Section 59 notices.
Sergeant James Carrington, who has led on Operation Triplefin, said: “Our ongoing activity has already had a real impact on deterring and reducing antisocial car cruising in these areas. I hope it reassures our communities that we have listened, and we are continuing to take this seriously.
