A local councillor has defended his belief that a school entrance needs reopening after one resident said it 'cannot accommodate' the number of pupils.
A Gedling councillor has reiterated calls for an old entrance at a large secondary school to be reopened - despite one resident claiming it "simply cannot accommodate" the number of pupils. Those attending the Carlton le Willows Academy previously entered the site through Wood Lane, but the approval of a multi-million pound expansion in 2021 saw a new entrance being created off Burton Road.
"The pavement simply cannot accommodate them. Cars park on the other side of the road from the pavement, and so only one side of the carriageway is used for traffic in both directions. When students return from the half term break, four weeks of temporary traffic signals will be in place, lasting until November 24. The school also confirmed that Wood Lane will close again once the safety works have finished.
