Suspected gunman Robert Card remains on the run after 18 people were shot dead at a bowling alley and bar in Maine on Wednesday night. Heavily armed police surrounded the home of the suspect's relatives last night and have urged the public to provide any information they have.
A man who lives across the road from Robert Card's father in the small town of Bowdoin said the suspect was a gun enthusiast who tended to keep a low profile.Rick Goddard, 44, said the last time he saw Card he was helping his father cut hay on their farm.'There was nothing out of the norm,' said Mr Goddard.
'Hard-working farming family doing their thing, you know, nothing out of the ordinary.'He described how Card appeared to have a keen interest in shooting.'I know that last year, when he shot a deer down here, he had a $2,000 thermal scope on his rifle. I mean, that's avid as far as I'm concerned,' he said.
